  1. There are even stats that protect long summers by law and that some people just don't like the idea.

  2. Middle-class parents say that is important for kids to, " Lie on their backs and watch the clouds for hours over a long summer break." But by ninth grade LOW INCOME students were about three and a half grade levels behind middle class kids.

  4. Some supporters of the traditional school day say that it's important for children to relax. Another counter argument is that Arnold Shwartznegger has not provided enough school and educational funding. This research shows that it would be harder to pay for that much more supplies and materials

  5. I think that A little bit longer school year might be alright but it mentioned a 230 day year. That seems a bit radical. The article also said that the year-round school year costs more and the way Governor Shwarzenegger has been cutting the education system in California, we will be either late to get longer school years or won't get them at all. Also, The "intersession" classes sound like a summer school. It seems like the author makes summer sound boring and dull. It isn't at all. Kids will find something to entertain them no matter where they are. I don't know what kids the author was talking to but only boring people get bored. Also the quote about the cow was totally random. The research does say that the extended school year helps kids. I can keep my mind open.

  6. counter arguments against it would be, kids are happier with a long break, parents get to spend time with kids more. They say parents enjoy more time off but that is not always true.
